Blobfish don't really look all frowny faced and ugly when they are in water!
See, a long time ago, all the blobfishes lived near the top of the ocean, but a lot of other fish wanted the food that they were eating. Because of this, the blobfish decided to go down deeper, where there was less competition. To do this, though, they had to abandon skin, and a spine, and basically have their entire body turned into gelatin.(gelatin is what marshmallows are made of).When they are down in their natural habitat, they look more like a regular fish (fig.1).
